Muster
Supervision of maritime service is carried out through the employer's precontrol and through the general control by special employment offices/Foreign Service stations to ensure that the employee meets the requirements prescribed for the service in question.
When commencing a new employment relationship, the employer shall submit the following documents to the Foreign Service station or employment office:
· Employment agreement
· Report on employment, commencement of service (registration report for the Maritime A/A register
· Documentation verifying that the employee in question has the necessary qualifications (including language qualifications, a valid health certificate, sea service record book or record of service and that the compulsory military service does not prevent him from serving at sea
· Certified copy by a public authority of certificate/qualification document (unless the original is submitted) or
· Completed application for a qualification document
A valid health certificate from a country within the European Economic Area (EEA), being either the Seafarer's home country or the EEA country in which he/she is most recently domiciled, is accepted for service on a Norwegian ship.
A Norwegian health certificate can be obtained from a medical doctor approved by the Royal Norwegian Embassy (see list below). Please note that the fee paid in connection with necessary medical examinations for mustering on a Norwegian registered vessel, will have to be paid by the seaman. The fee will, however, be reimbursed by the employer when presenting a doctor's receipt .
