During their two day visit in Croatia the Norwegian Royal couple will participate in a series of celebrations and events in honor of the Croatian-Norwegian partnership. Deputy Mayor Baranović has on several occasions stressed the exceptional honor this visit represents for the town of Šibenik and its citizens.
“We are honored by the arrival of the Royal couple and we will do our best to make sure that the visit to Šibenik remains a fond memory of theirs. I would especially like to emphasize that this is a Royal family that represents a country that has modestly, but continually assisted Croatia in its recent history.” said Mr. Baranović.
H.E. Mr. Henrik Ofstad also emphasized the importance of this happening for the town of Šibenik. Šibenik, he says, has deserved to host this great event considering it is an old Croatian royal town that turns toward the maritime sector and serves as a link between Croatia and Norway.
"Norwegian ships are being built in the Nautical Center Prgin (NCP), and we are opening a iNavis center that will serve as the headquarters of our future economic cooperation. In the company of President Josipović, King Harald and Queen Sonja will visit the iNavis building as well as the NCP where they will attend the launching of two ships that NCP is building for the Norwegian market. They will also visit your beautiful old city and the cathedral" said the ambassador.
Also he mentioned that last year 140 000 Norwegian tourists visited Croatia, and how this number is in fact expected to rise significantly in the future.
