Bjørnson evening in Zagreb

Last updated: 18/06/2010 // On Wednesday June 16 the Croatian Norwegian Association arranged a literature evening in memory of the famous Norwegian writer, editor and theatre director, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. The evening was arranged in cooperation with the Norwegian Embassy and the Tin Ujevic library in Zagreb.

H.E.Ambassador Mr. Terje Hauge welcomed the guests in the library by saying a few words about Bjørnson`s work. He also thanked the Croatian Norwegian Association for its dedication and contribution to the cooperation and friendship between the two countires.

The speech of the Ambassador was followed by a power-point presentation about the writers life made by  head of the Tin Ujevic library Mrs. Tea Grasic-Kvesic and a lecture made by the library's information officer, Mrs. Stella Seissel-Livaic. The library made a great effort to get hold of old and protected books and other material related to Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson.

The well known actress Mrs. Nada Rocco and the Norwegian trainee at the Embassy Ms. Vilde Langemyr ended the evening by reading a selection of texts both in Croatian and then in Norwegian. Among them a song from the novel "Synnøve Solbakken" published in1857. 

The event was attended by about 30 people and the evening was a great opportunity for members and friends of the Croatian Norwegian Association to get to know more about the Norwegian writer’s life and work. Cultural meetings creates also the opportunity to get to know new people and to share the common interest for Norway.
