The December issue of National Geographic Croatia printed a long article about Jotunheimen National Park. The main author, Mr. Kakarigi spent two months in the area and one of the aims of the following lecture in Zagreb was to explain and describe the making of such an article.
The lecture which has been given the name Jotunheimen- Home of the Mountain Giants was presented in cooperation with the Royal Norwegian Embassy, the Nordic Chamber of Commerce in Croatia, the National Geographic Magazine Croatia, and Ecogreen Europe.
The Norwegian Ambassador to Croatia Mr. Terje Hauge was one of the opening speakers together with the Director of National Geographic Croatia, Mr. Hrvoje Prćić. In his speech, Mr. Hauge underlined the good relations and similarities between the two countries, such as nature and tourism.
Mr. Kakarigi gave the audience an informative lecture about the mountain area, but he also shared stories and experiences from the top of Galdhøpiggen, the highest mountain in Norway. Mr. Kakarigi presented his stories with humor and excitement and through the show he introduced the audience to music by the Norwegian Sami musician Mari Boine and the composer Edvard Grieg. Mr. Kakarigi also read some lines from the famous poem Peer Gynt, written by the Norwegian dramatist Henrik Ibsen.
Among the audience were especially invited guests from various ministries, embassies, faculties and associations. It is estimated that 200 people were present at Mr.Kakarigi’s lecture.
